Style Advice: Pear Shape Figure

Hello lovelies,

I have been getting numerous style requests for pear shape figures. Are you bigger and rounder from the bottom than you are from the top, like most of the women? Then you are a 'Pear'!

Which Celebs are Pear-Shaped?

Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria and Rihanna and the list can go on forever. Yep, these gals tend to be both hippy and hip!

It's a bit of a challenge to find clothing items that will fit your tiny waist with your wider hips. When it comes to dresses it can be slightly tricky because it might be difficult to accomodate the slim-cut fashion to the bottom half of your pear-shaped body.

How to dress a pear-shaped body

  • Focus attention upward.Slim, fitted tops, button-down shirts and cardigans are the items that pear-shaped women should lookout for.
  • Embellish the neck. Embellished necklines for shirts and dresses will naturally draw the eye upward to the slimmest part of the body.
  • Layers. Want to add visual interest to the top half of the body? Well, layering garments is another way of balancing out your pear-shaped body.
  • "A". Go for A-line dresses and tops that will emphasize the upper body while slimming wider hips.
  • Wide! Wide is good. To visually balance a pear-shaped body keep the hems of pants, skirts and dresses wide. Pointy-toed shoes with a wide-hemmed pants will elongate your legs.
  • Structure. Structured pants are a great fit, especially those that skim the hips and thighs of a pear-shaped body.
